About the Entrepreneur

Paulina Mokhothu a founder of Tlhokomelo Designs. She is a social  entrepreneur deeply  rooted in impacting the lives of the disadvantaged. Tlhokomelo is a Lesotho name  meaning “taking care”. As a social worker by profession, she is guided by social  work mantra, “helping people help  themselves”. She has trainings in Leather Design and Leather Product Development and Fashion Mentorship Program with Mitreeki.

With her skills and experience in the leather industry, she strives to impact the lives of the less fortunate than her by carrying out the on-job training to women and youth who co-create her product resulting in skills and financial empowerment for them. She also partners and collaborate with local artisans who use recycled raw materials to create hardware, embellishments, and leather finishing techniques to her products. She is a volunteer CEO of Leather Articles Entrepreneurs Association.

About the Business

We create handcrafted, elegant, functional leather accessories to complement our customer lifestyle inspired by our African heritage. We pride ourselves in crafting items that communicate our diverse African culture, experiences and perspective of people around the world, while impacting the lives of the disadvantaged. Our products are made of leather the by-products of the meat industry. We currently produce a range of products under “Tlhokomelo” label. This include bags, cases, belts and wallets.
